BetMGM is getting down to business in Pennsylvania for the first time with online gambling.
The company begins three days of a soft launch for its online casino in PA on Tuesday from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. Then 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday.
Should all go well, they go fully live on Friday. It will be the 13th interactive casino in Pennsylvania for online gamblers. We’ll have more details about the BetMGM PA online casino as it goes live.
First coming onto the scene all the way back in 2003, Europa Casino is a veteran in the online casino space compared to some of the newer players out there. BetMGM sportsbook still to come
For now, BetMGM, a partnership of GVC Holdings under the ROAR Digital brand, has not yet moved to launch its online sportsbook option, despite having just made a deal with the Steelers as their first gaming partner. BetMGM is live in several states with online sports betting apps.
Also, around the corner for BetMGM is potentially poker, though the timetable remains unclear.
ROAR already operates Partypoker in New Jersey, setting them up to operate Partypoker PA eventually. PokerStars PA has been the only online poker room operating in the Keystone State since November of 2019.
BetMGM rolling out problem gambling tech at the same time
Not coincidentally, GVC Holdings, which works with BetMGM, is rolling out detection technology called PlayPause – to identify players who exhibit potential early signs of problem gambling behaviors. That comes after GVC announced its Sustainability Charter earlier in November.
The exclusion tool PlayPause was developed by the non-profit Conscious Gaming, powered by geolocation company GeoComply.
Under Penn National skin
BetMGM initially planned to enter the market as a qualified gaming entity, a category for companies without a physical presence in PA. But that would have meant they could not eventually enter the sportsbook market.
BetMGM instead entered the market as an online casino “skin” under Penn National‘s iGaming license.
